Reflection
The project
In biology, my class took a college course that specified in climate change, and my groups topic was sustainability. We studied how we can be more self sufficient and sustainable if plants such as sunflowers sequestered more Carbon back into soil.
Our hypothesis is By replacing one acre of land with sunflowers then we would sequester [9.6 tonnes] of Carbon.

Achievements |
The challenges that my group and I faced during this project was searching for valid information. Originally we wanted to conduct an experiment by growing sunflowers, but given 2 weeks we knew we couldn't, so we resorted to observing study cases and articles. The main challenge was finding the right study cases that can support our project, but then we came to a realization that the exact topic we chose might have not been thoroughly tested/studied yet. After a while, we worked some things out and decided to use what we had and make due.

Things I learned during this project is how time consuming research is, how to to cooperate with others better, and overall learning more about climate change and my groups topic in this course. I'm proud of pretty much everything we did in this project because we went through a lot of struggling together, and because I'm seeing more and more of the final product now, compared to the beginning of the project when we were so lost.

21st century skills
Thinking and problem solving - Students will demonstrate thinking and problem solving in all curricular areas through projects, application of the scientific method, higher order math skills, and literary analysis.
Civic literacy and engagement - Students will demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to analyze and participate in government and in community, both locally and globally, in order to shape the circumstances that impact their daily lives and the lives of others.
Information skills - Students will apply relevant computer and handheld technology across the curriculum, and they will integrate new technologies. Students will also read and understand a wide range of literary and informational text for a variety of purposes, and they will apply a variety of appropriate research methods across the curriculum.
