Name of assignment-Fanzine
Teacher- Mr. Goring |
For this assignment, we had to create a magazine-like book (fanzine) and write about anything. We could write, put pictures, collages, poems, etc., and it we had to have at least 12 of the requirements. Since Mr. Goring counted one requirement as two, you really only need 6. I decided to make my fanzine on fashion over the years. I added music, pictures, and my thoughts/opinion.

For the fanzine project, the 21st century skill I think was used the most was definitely Directional skills. We all chose to make what interests us or whatever we wanted, and put it in a fanzine. It gave us freedom to guide ourselves and self direct. I was able to express what I liked due to being allowed to take the lead of this project and helped me become stronger in the 21st century skill. During this project, the easy parts were cutting, gluing, and coloring (and that was even hard). It was easy to cut and paste what I needed and where I needed it on the paper, but finding the photos was the hardest part. Another thing was the placement of the papers, it was easy because I wanted them in the same place on each page. Instead of stressing out about how things will fit, I just started and it all worked out. If I had to redo, I’d say I’d write more things around each page even though I think it’s fine now, but it would also look cool with more stuff on it. I’d also try not to look so hard for “the perfect” outfit that describes the decade, because there were so many options. I would try to worry about it less and just pick one. Another thing is that I wouldn’t have printed a playlist or song for each page because I know Mr. Goring would only count that four times( two for music, two for playlist) .
Name of assignment-Current Events
Teacher- Mr. Goring |
For this assignment, we had a template that we had to fill out and present to the class. Since it was current event based, each group was assigned their own area of the world for their project: Local, international, national, and global. For example, one of my group's topic was local news, and we talked about how this crazy man was walking around with a metal pole. A Black cop was called to address the disturbance, and the man attacked the man with the weapon.

Reflection
The 21st century skill I believe this assignment represents is Global Awareness due to how we take in the information about the world and what's happening during that time. I believe it's very important to know what happening around you, if I never had these current events, I along with other people would have continued to be ignorant, and that's an add on to why I'm proud about it. I improved on this skill by taking part in being more aware of the current news especially in the area. I have global news at home, but I never look up what's happening around the island, so this assignment greatly improves that. The most difficult part of these current events was having to agree with my partners on what current event to read and present. Since we've had multiple of these assignments, the things I see that could improve is how much detail my group includes when talking about a topic. Another is the speed each group talks during presentations; if it's too slow it's not entertaining, but if it's too fast it's hard to understand. These current events relate to my past learning by group communication, team work, and presentation skills. I can always apply this to future learning by engaging more in real world problems and help spread awareness.
